wine and .net
I know wine didn't support .net, too much difficulty with copyright proprietary software from MS I thought, but things are changing. I assumed that I couldn't run any .net based programs. But I've been pleasantly surprised to find that I can run most of them using mono, either natively in (Linux or MacOSX) or in wine. If you are using the wine approach download the windows mono installer, and try running your program. I did find that you need a fairly recent version of wine. Runs programs with GUIs built using Visual Basic or C# (or any other Visual Studio language).
